Happy Anniversary, WCF Financial Bank!

2024 is a milestone year for WCF Financial Bank. First, it marks our 90th year in business, dating back to the bank’s 1934 founding in Webster City. 2024 is also the 10th anniversary of our entrance into the Independence market, as we purchased Independence Federal Bank for Savings back in 2014.

If you look around Webster City, very few businesses can boast of ninety consecutive years in operation. We are extremely proud of our heritage of service and longevity in Webster City and Hamilton County. From our humble beginnings using a single borrowed desk in office space inside the Wensell Groceteria in 1934 when we issued our first home loan for $800, to establishing our first permanent office space on Second Street two years later, to financing a home building boom in the 1950s, to moving into our second permanent location on Des Moines Street in 1960, to various expansions of that building throughout the 1970s and 1980s, to opening our current state of the art facility on Fair Meadow Drive in 2015, WCF Financial Bank has grown in Webster City alongside our community.  Without the strong support from residents, farmers, and businesses in Webster City and Hamilton County, we would not be here today.

Those first 80 years of growth and success in Webster City led bank management and the Board of Directors to venture outside of the local area for the first time ten years ago. As construction began on our current Webster City home, the bank moved forward with the purchase of a small savings and loan in Independence, which became the bank’s second location. To better reflect the bank’s growth and presence in multiple markets, in that same year of 2014 the bank renamed itself to the current WCF Financial Bank. In our ten years in Independence, we have increased our presence in the market, both in terms of additional staff and expanded and new customer relationships. Further evidence of our dedication to this market took place in 2022 when an extensive remodeling of the then 50-year-old facility was completed.

As we reflect on our proud history and continue planning for an even brighter future, we must humbly acknowledge and thank our loyal customers. Without your support, many of these past events and current milestones simply would not have happened. We remain optimistic and excited about what the future holds for our institution and look forward to many more years of reliable service to you, our customers and friends.
